Quirky Cake Cuts & Iconic Moments ✨

You know those wedding moments that just feel iconic? The ones where the photographer catches the light just right, maybe there’s a little motion blur, a champagne coupe in hand and it feels like you’ve been transported into a glossy editorial spread? Well let’s talk about cake cuts.
I’m not talking about the polite little side of the dance floor, one photo and your done cake cut. No. I’m talking about cake cuts that are practically events. The ones that have personality, drama, laughter and a whole lot of style.

We had the absolute pleasure of working on just that kind of moment recently at Eaves Hall in Clitheroe, one of my all time favourite venues. The styling for this late September wedding was a dreamy, autumnal vibe that still felt fresh and vibrant, full of seasonal richness but totally current with today’s trends.

We had it all:
🍾 A Champagne Tower – because if you’re going to pop the bubbly, you might as well do it with a little flair.
🚗 A Vintage Car – that perfect “old money” moment where you can just imagine driving off into the sunset.
📜 Beautiful Stationery – tying everything together with elegance and personality.
🍰 A Raspberry & Vanilla Cake – complete with buttercream in a colour-matched hue inside (yes, it was as cute as it sounds).

But the cake cut… oh, the cake cut. The photographers caught every angle along with the flash lighting, the laughter & that slightly mischievous energy that makes you want to print the picture and frame it forever. These weren’t just photos, they were moments.

If you’ve noticed a trend lately, you’re not wrong these kinds of images are popping up everywhere and for good reason. They’re playful, a little nostalgic and so chic. Whether it’s flash-lit images that look like they came straight out of Vogue or those dreamy motion-blur shots that feel like a memory, they’re an amazing way to capture the joy of the moment.
The best part? Your cake doesn’t need to be huge to make an impact. A beautifully styled, slightly smaller cake, paired with bold florals or a strong tablescape, can still create the most epic photos.

So if you’re planning your wedding, don’t sleep on this moment. Think about your cake table styling, your lighting and how you want to feel when you cut into it. Do you want to be giggling barefoot on the dance floor ? Or slicing into it perched on a grand piano (yes, really!)? Whatever your vibe, lean into it and make it a little event of its own.
Because honestly, cake always deserves a spotlight moment. And I absolutely adore seeing your cake cutting photos.
